All-in-One Master Data Management
ZMDM takes an all-in-one Master Data solution approach, integrating all components required for a complete, well-architected, and effective Master Data Management solution.
You can see the difference between ZMDM’s all-in-one approach and that of traditional MDM solutions.
What is Included in All-in-One Master Data Management
Ready-to-Use Multi-domain Master Data Domain Models
ZMDM comes with ready-to-use master data domain models, including Part/Item, SAP Material Master, SKU, Supplier, Customer, Bill of Material, Routing, Recipe, Equipment, and other supporting domain models.
Master Data Lifecycle and Golden Record
Master data represents the culmination of cross-functional input, analysis, and decision-making. Elements can be captured from different systems and cross-functional teams. The master data object goes through a lifecycle, and at any given point, one official version (golden record) of the master object is valid. In ZMDM, you can support the lifecycle of master data using version, revision, and revision status as shown below.
At any given time, a released version of the master data with effective dates is considered the golden record.
Master Data Domain Model Schema Design
ZMDM comes with a rich set of multi-domain master data domain models. These domain models can be used as-is or extended using a simple-to-use Metadata designer. You can also create new domain models, reference data models, and any other data that is needed to support Master Data Management.
Master Data Assessment
Master Data Assessment is a key capability of ZMDM for analyzing and improving the quality, business relevance, and readiness of master data.
Duplicate Prevention
ZMDM supports inline checks as well as process orchestration-based external system checks to prevent duplicates from being created.
Error-proofing
It is well known in the quality world that preventing quality issues is better than fixing them. Poka-yoke is a Japanese term for mistake-proofing, and it is widely practiced in Manufacturing and Product Design.
Applying Poka-yoke principles is the ideal way to prevent bad Master Data from being created and propagated throughout the organization (in ERP, CRM, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, and other systems).
Learn more about how ZMDM supports error-proofing using a variety of techniques.
Master Data Error Correction
The Error Correction process is supported by data quality rules that run within and across all the systems that require consistent master data. This can be done using ZMDM or other systems, such as SAP InfoSteward. ZMDM is generally used to address complex data quality rules spanning multiple systems. Master data records that fail the data quality rules in these systems are assigned to appropriate correction workflows in ZMDM. The correction workflows combine automated data corrections and manual review by cross-functional teams from Finance, R&D, and Supply Chain.
Plug-and-play Integration
ZMDM is unique and effective in the way it supports plug-and-play integration to external systems that act as sources of preliminary master data elements (like Engineering/PLM systems for parts/materials, CRM/Marketing systems for prospects/customer accounts) or destination systems (ERP, Planning, Logistics, MES, Customer Support, E-commerce).
There is no need to purchase/implement/connect third-party integration tools. In ZMDM, integration with external systems is just another activity in the workflow and occurs naturally as part of the master data business processes.
Master Data Governance Workflow/Business Process Design
ZMDM includes one of the most powerful and easy-to-use workflow/business process orchestration engines in the market. It is simple enough that most of the process design is handled by business and master data teams rather than IT teams. The process designer includes capabilities for designing workflows and how they should be executed.
Master Data Governance Workflow Execution
Once the workflow design is completed and released, authorized users and external systems (via REST API) can use the workflow execution engine to instantiate and orchestrate workflows. The orchestration of the workflow instance follows the blueprint that it inherits from the process template.
Ready-to-Use Master Data Governance Workflow Templates
ZMDM includes a large number of Master Data process templates that can be used readily. These templates are designed based on our experience working with a variety of industry customers. You can also take these templates as starting points and change them to support your company’s unique master data workflow needs.
You can see examples of typical master data workflow templates here.
MDM AI Agent Design
In ZMDM, AI agents designed with specific master data-related skills can act as workflow performers.
MDM AI Agent Integration in Workflow Orchestration
AI Agents designed for a specific purpose (for example, Description generator below) can be added as workflow performers using REST APIs. The approach provides great flexibility to design AI Agents on your preferred platforms (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, AWS Bedrock) and use them via API Gateways.
